Federal Efficiency Standards: A Win for Families, Health & Climate

As an example of this, the US Department of Energy’s (DOE) proposed ruling last week on efficiency standards for gas furnace & heaters could lead to a win for the pocketbooks of families, for the health of communities and children, and for the climate.

Net-Zero Emissions Bill Advances in the California State Senate

Today, the California State Senate Appropriations Committee moved the Climate Crisis Act (AB 1395), co-authored by Assembly Members Al Muratsuchi and Cristina Garcia, off of the suspense file to the Senate floor for debate. The bill would codify California’s commitment to achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emissions as soon as possible and no later than 2045. Additionally, the bill includes provisions to ensure that California directly reduces emissions 90% below 1990 levels by 2045.

LADWP to Provide $72.5 Million Dollars to LAUSD for Energy and Water Conservation Measures Through Renewed Partnership

The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP) will provide up to $72.5 million dollars to help the nation’s second largest school district save energy and water, while reducing their utility bills, under a renewed agreement that will continue through 2025.

Podcast: In Brief - Leading Voices on Climate Change

First launched in 2017, the podcast Leading Voices in Real Estate recently celebrated it’s 100th episode. The podcast is hosted by Terra Search managing partner and founder Matt Slepin and has featured many of ULI’s leaders including ULI CEO Ed Walter.

Slepin recently hosted a two-part discussion of the challenges facing the commercial real estate industry tackling climate change. In part one, Greg Smithies, a partner with venture capitalist Fifth Wall, talked about the growing investor appetite for climate tech.
